ECL - Emitter Coupled Logic

A quick definition for general consumption

The output logic swing of ECL gates varies from a LOW state of Vol = -1.75 V to a HIGH state of Voh = -0.9 V with respect to ground.

If positive logic is used when refering to logic "0's" or "1's". Then Typically

"0" = -1.75 V = LOW = False

"1" = -0.9 V = HIGH = True

Common terms used when refering to ECL circuits:

Vee: Negative power, typically -5.2 V.

Vbb: Switching threshold, typically -1.29 V.

Vtt: Termination voltage, typically -2.0 V.

Vcc: CAUTION On most ECL circuits VCC is ground. On TTL-ECL translator circuits VCC is +5 V, and or ground.
