The 6 chambers from E690 were moved from storage in PC4 to Lab 6 (at Fermilab). Initial tests in PC4 indicated that there were no broken wires. The chambers had Argon gas in them, thus limiting the voltage to which they could be tested. The test took them to 700 V, the currents drawn were:
chamber
current
(microamps)A
0.60
B
0.56
C
0.70
D
0.64
E
0.72
F
2.20
In all cases the currents were dropping once the maximum voltage was reached. Based on this simple test it was decided to extract the chambers and move them to Lab 6 for additional testing and preparation for MIPP.
