Minutes of P907 meeting on Wednesday June 27, 2001

1. Beam and Beamsheet

DUSAF coordinates, as opposed to Meson coordinates, will be used. Thornton will be at Snowmass for 3 weeks, however, once he gets a transport run from Tom Kobilarcik, Thornton will continue work on the beamsheet. The beam in MC7 will be horizontal (the current beamline angles up). Beams 120 AIP will be expanded to include modifications to switchyard and the beamline through Meson. The 120 AIP will begin in FY2002.

2. Analysis magnets

MC7 floor loading - the plan is for Bob Woods to complete calculations by August 1st. The roof of MC7 will have to be raised for both magnets. Rosie will be located approximately where the DS steel is located. Removal of the steel was not included in the ICO. Therefore, John Cooper was the ICO modified - Raja will follow up.

3. BM109's

Starting July 5th, the ansley cables will be removed between MC7 & MP7 and stored in MB. Presently, ZGS steel will be removed only in the area needed to allow for removal of the BM109. The steel may not have to go back in, but will be staged close by until the decision is made. A T&M requisition to rig out the magnets is in process. The removal will be done the latter part of July.

4. Shielding Assessment

Tom Kobilarcik cannot be assigned for a month. Raja volunteered Morkov(sp?) to help. The assessment will take about two months. At first glance by Thornton, MC pile remains as is, MW pile probably (70% sure) can be removed, ZGS steel in MC7 can probably be removed, shielding over MB hatch stays and doesn't yet know if beam on access will be allowed in MB.

5. Gas Systems

Rich Schmitt will evaluate systems &endash; TPC: Peter Barnes, will need pORC in September; RICH: Earl Swallow; PWCs: Bill Mays, Texas; Beam Cherenkov: ~100' in US MC7

6. Chambers

If large PWCs from E781 are used, the roof will have to be raises to allow them to fit; TPC: power up sticks by the end of July, get the clock working and DAQ + VME operating in August/September; Secondary target: start with solid target changer; 6 months later &endash; hydrogen target &endash; Dan Kaplan may build?

7. Next Meeting

The next meeting will be Wednesday, July 11th, Small Dining Room at 10:30AM &endash; Note: 30 minutes later than previous meeting
