Peter Barnes' meeting summaries in italics.
Stnading MCenter Beam meeting established, but time and place not yet frozen.Beam tuning proposal: tune with 1011 and detector voltages off, or use wire chambers, which will be more sensitive.
E907 is a beam dump - need to look at produced junk (e-, m) and shielding. Going to ask Molkov to start MARS studies.
BEAM - Beamline
UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors
Beam CKOV
Questions:
- Beam window sizes and materials?
- Recoat mirrors? - RR says yes.
TGTW - Target Wheel
CTGT - Cryogenic Targets
NTGT - NuMI (MINOS) Target
Stand:
Ingrid and Peter met this morning and selected the TPC cart conceptual design. They also verified the proper positioning of the TPC in JGG.
JGG - Jolly Green Giant
Rosie
Welding requirements
Bob Wands reported results of stress calculation: 200 kpsi, split equally between top and bottom. Side straps should be enough, but still need to address the center sections. Shimming between coils and pole tips not complete.
Cart and DC2 Stand drawings are out for bid.Erickson will have MAB estimate for DC2 Stand early next week. Materials will be $1.3k (direct).
Preamp Support and Air Manifold
Air flow direction was perpendicular to cards; keep it this way? There are limited attachment points. Should we drill and tap into the frame (yuck!) or use structural epoxy to attach an angle (better). Will this interfere with chamber mounting? Will cables come out both sides of the chamber, or only one? Depends on the allowed cable length to the discriminators.
Testing
Can now read out an entire chamber; many oddities. Adam worked on one section and cleaned it up; mostly due to bad TDC modules. RR to raise this issue with PREP.
Are there testing jobs suitable for a summer teacher?
- Testing scintillator and PMT samples. Limited to (5 cm)2 trigger area, so data rate is s l o w.
- Making Helmholtz coil to test shielding; ready in 4-6 weeks.
- Retrieving USC RPC chambers from FOCUS for trigger.
- Optimizing gluing and assembly steps.
- How much material is allowed in the ROSIE aperture? RR to study this next week, considering 5 cm and 2 cm material, and the impact on momentum resolution, particle production, and p0 conversion.
- Use TOF in trigger? (USC has experience, hardware) Need trigger group.
- Still need more ROSIE fringe field information; RR to talk to Wands to get the right study.
Rails arrived 6 June, stands to arrive 19 June. Rail installation to start early next week. Bridge for MBottom cable alcove nearly complete in MAB.
Need assembly drawing; lowest drafting priority, so no progress this week.
Alignment
The next call will be Thursday, 13 June 2002, at 3:00 CDT in WH-11SW.
