Leon Beverly's meeting summaries in italics.
BEAM - Beamline
UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors
BCKOV
Ron Soltz:
- Investigating a target multiplicity array; update in 1&endash;2 weeks.
TGTW - Target Wheel
CTGT - Cryogenic Targets
NTGT - NuMI (MINOS) Target
Ron Soltz:
- No work on stick tests.
- Obtained STAR GG (Gating Grid) driver board schematic; understand the main blocks and which we need; starting to explore fabriction options (LLNL, FNAL, UCLA).
Ingrid Fang:
- Stand drawings have been checked.
- Cart design is complete, including additional feature for fork lift handling.
- Need assembly drawing to show rail and shimming.
Paint magnets week of 8/26.Measurement
Raja:
- The following are the pieces of information I have been able to gather about Ziptrack.
- Old Cart is missing.
- Rest of Hardware exists. (Barnes has seen it. We need to locate it.)This includes Hall Probes.
- A cart has been half built by Jim Kilmer for use in HyperCP(?) , after they discovered the old one was missing. (Source Doug Jensen). Jim please confirm this if so.
- Most importantly, the computer and software exists (Source Doug Jensen). It cannot be hooked up to a network, but can write data to a zip disk. Mike Roman was the last person to program this computer.
- The next step is to locate all the pieces. Doug Jensen and I will try and do this. Peter, let me know where you found the pieces.
Peter Barnes:
There is a large pile of Ziptrack parts, including two 2-D translation stations (large orange towers), numerous rails, and even a computer or two, in Meson East, downstream of where MINOS assembled their coil. I think the parts are roughly opposite a roll-up door on the east side.
Jim Kilmer:
The cart I worked on is not 1/2 built. I had a number of parts made but it needs many more and then assembly. It will take a fair amount of machinist time to finish.
Missing part, zip-track cart &endash; Jim K. estimates 200 hours of machining (material needs to be purchased) and 2 weeks of tech time to assembly cart.
Raja is trying to boot-up computer & check software status.
JGG - Jolly Green Giant
Rosie
Ingrid Fang:
- Expect cart and rails delivery today.
Cart, rails arrived 8/22.
Install rails ~8/29.
Gas system &endash; may use R11 recovery system rather than C4F10; Peter/Raja &endash; determine what level of contamination can be tolerated in system.
Ingrid Fang:
- Expect DC2 stand delivery next Tuesday.
Testing continues; work continues on brackets & trays, next chamber ready to move to test stand &endash; grounding scheme needs to be verified for operational stability.
Iowa chambers &endash; support stand design in progress, drawings started; RMH racks need chilled water, 18 degree C input, 2 gpm/rack, heat load is 2500W/rack, two racks.
Tim Bergfeld:
- Testing PMT shields vs. known Rosie fringe field in progress.
- Evaluating two design schemes &endash; aim is to minimize material in beam.
- Plan is to assemble TOF at S. Carolina and ship to Fermilab.
Layout of read out boards not quite finished, but close, plan to place PO w/in 2 weeks.
Ron Soltz
- 5 additional VME PPC boards on order
- David Asner has setup hardware for DAQ chain test at LLNL; starting on DAQ code itself.
Alignment
Still awaiting removal of B2 from target pile so final survey thru MC5, 6 & 7 can be documented.
Roof installation not yet complete, insulation installation on hold; OH doors are installed;
The next call will be Thursday, 29 August 2002, at 3:00 CDT in WH-11SW.
