Leon Beverly's meeting summaries in italics.
BEAM - Beamline
Lead contamination in MC6 cleaned up. Going to resume regular meetings.
UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors
Beam Chambers
Use Ramberg Test Beam chambers? or Virginia beam chambers?
BCKOV
Kilmer has controls info for motorizing mirror drives. The experiment wishes to have control of the drives through their computer rather than through the beam line computer.
Ask Earl Swallow to help Mike Heffner pick coating for mirrors.
TGTW - Target Wheel
CTGT - Cryogenic Targets
NTGT - NuMI (MINOS) Target
Stationary stand & movable stand drawings are ready for final check and signature next week when Nila returns. The assembly drawing is 90% complete.Need survey of lips of JGG for rail shimming.
Per John Riordan, analysis magnets in MC7 will be supplied with LCW water from the MS6 system.Painting complete.
Planning header and cable routing.
Ziptrack
Ron Ray:
John Korienek has looked over the zip track to see what is missing. Most of what is missing is indeed related to the cart. He estimates that the cost of parts is $286 and the machine time to fabricate the cart is 46 hours x $50/hr = $2300, compared to an original estimate of $10K. John Cooper agreed to pay for the parts if LBL [sic] would pay for the machining. In addition, a few of the missing parts do not have the drawings needed for a bid package. It does not make sense to me to send this out for bids. I would suggest we simply ask Korienek to proceed.
Moving to Lab 8 tomorrow. Lindenmeyer gathering cart drawings for in house quote. Disks completely recovered. Found bootable Windows 3.1 cpu. Keithley software dongle lost, but last supported version doesn't use it.
JGG - Jolly Green Giant
Rosie
Spaces between coils on the US & DS ends of Rosie need to be shimmed &endash; Jim Ellermeier gathering material.
Installation sequence: move cart outside, place CKOV, use fork lift to put cart back inside MC7. Will not move to MC7 until after ziptracking is complete.
Transfer frames will ship tomorrow from Livermore. If chamber rewiring is done &endash; BeCu wire will be used.
A discriminator tower will be moved to IIT for testing; new T-N-F cables will be assembled, probably by outside vendor.
Will use Droge HV supplies.
DC #3 support stand design in progress.
Iowa chambers &endash; support stand design complete, in drawing queue.
V casters bind. Solution is to loosen bolts, roll up and down, then tighten boltsInside of tank cleaned, mirrors installed, start alignment week of 9/23; funding is available to buy new HV supplies.
Michigan received SSAAP grant.EMCAL/Hadron detector design in progress. Will consists of lead (1 radiation lenght, 0.56 cm) + PWC (HyperCP muon chambers, 64 channels each), 9 radiation lengths. Size 1.5 m2, 1.3 T ! Looking for lead plates at Fermilab. Chambers will reuse HyperCP system.
Alignment
Installing lights.Single doors arrived today.Updated rack locations and contents now posted.
The next call will be Thursday, 26 September 2002, at 3:00 CDT in WH-11SW.
