Raja:
The next collaboration meeting is on November 9th, with Friday November 8th devoted to systems specific meetings.
The meeting after this was initially announced for Feb 14, 2003. Unfortunately, as several people have pointed out, this happens to be St. Valentine's day. So we are moving this meeting to Feb 8th 2003 with Feb 7th being devoted to systems meetings. Please mark your calendar.
Leon Beverly's meeting summaries in italics.
BEAM - Beamline
UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors
BCKOV
Win Baker:
Below is what I sent Raja regarding my efforts to resurrect the counters used in E104. The E706 counter was those two counters joined to form one with a different focal length mirror. The two original mirrors are nowhere to be found.
Carol Johnstone is pondering the E706 counter, which she upgraded to count several particles simultaneously, to see if any tricks can be done to make it useable.
I have searched Lab 6, talked with Karen Kephart, searched the warehouse (#2) and talked to the people there. No sign of the other mirrors. Karen said she would contact Bud Koecher to see if he remembers anything about them.A more careful check of your curves says they are just right. The separation of the Cerenkov angles of two given particles varies inversely as the square of the momentum. There's nothing we can do about that. Carol's optics for simultaneous tagging of three particles works at a specific (high) momentum but not for the range of E907. The tragedy is that the original two counter configuration was designed for momenta up to 200 GeV, which would be perfect for us. The lab in its mania to junk stuff has thrown out the baby with the bathwater.

To: "Jose Delao" <delao@fnal.gov>
Thanks very much for showing all lead. Discussing with my boss, we think we can use those thin sheets (~20 sheets), about 30" by 60" of size. Would you keep them a safe area ?From: "Jose Delao" <delao@fnal.gov>
Considered it done. I will have them ready for you. Keep in mind- that you need to have all the proper training. That is whoever you're going to have handle the lead. Get it done now, so you don't have to wait till the last minute.Sketches shown at this meeting:

Terry Tope:
It appears that the lab does not want to allow the release of even the small amount of Freon 13B1 that chambers 5-6 would use. If these chambers use Argon (Boiling Point -186C), Isobutane (BP -12 C), Freon 13B1 (BP -58C), and Isopropanol (BP 82C) separating out the Freon would be tricky based on the boiling points and liquefication. Let me know if you feel the Freon is vital and we should pursue this further with the lab or from a technical standpoint.
Ron Soltz:
prelim daq C++ daq class layout nearly complete; DAQ meeting for next Wed.
Alignment
Request in for laser tracker to support ziptrack & install a control network next week in MC7.
The next call will be Thursday, 31 October 2002, at 3:00 CDT in WH-3NE, Theory Room.
