Leon Beverly's meeting summaries in italics.
BEAM - Beamline
Win Baker:
Attached [Word, pdf] is what I think (hope) is the final version of the PPD Fermilab Meson 120 Experimental Areas Safety Assessment Document. It has been okayed by all the folks who were at our [John Cooper's] meeting some weeks back, especially Kamran Vaziri. I assume he speaks for the ES&H section.Work continues on documenting beamline coordinates for elements in MC5 & MC6.
UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors
BCKOV
7 mr mirror due back from vendor by end of next week. Drawing that shows components needed to convert manual to remote unit is complete. Requisition prepared to order motors and LVDTs. Terry discussed and will further investigate the possibility of using a chiller to condense and remove C4F10 from the system. Win discussed constant pressure/standard volume technique when changing entire volume of gas in the CKOVs and beam pipe.
TGTW - Target Wheel
CTGT - Cryogenic Targets
NTGT - NuMI (MINOS) Target
David Asner will test sticks that have been repaired by Bob Jones' group. Bob will repair additional sticks.
Cart & rails delivered to MC7 on Monday, 12-16-02. Stand due Friday, 12-20-02. Plan to build clean tent around TPC in MC7 the first of January.
ZipTrack
JGG ziptracking started 12-13-02.
JGG - Jolly Green Giant
Rosie
Installation of LCW hoses and connection of klixons in progress.
David Lange:
I've tried to summarize my thinking/work on the cables and patch panels needed for the ckov. See [this pdf]. Any comments/sanity checks on the pain would be helpful. I'm here at FNAL one more (short) day this trip.
David Lange producing list of materials needed for CKOV. Also, he plans to install cables January 18-20.
DC1-4 (E690 Chambers)
David Miller:
The open chamber [DC3?] is being cleaned and regasketed. All of the wires (in this chamber) are in good shape where they span the window. Unfortunately, the soldering of the anodes wires to the connector ribbon cables is very poor. Ines Ramos (of Lab 6) is helping remove stray wire ends, shorts and repair open wires. This takes about 1/2-1 day per anode plane.
We still have not received the resistive epoxy. The epoxy may be needed to lower the resistance between existing wires and not only for wire replacement. Too much resistance would allow the planes to "charge up" under operation.
I broke some wires on DC1 yesterday. It will take about 2 extra days to fix. I hope to have chamber #1 fixed and otherwise cleaned up and sealed by Friday.
DC1: fixing wires and cleaning.
DC3: Dave [Miller? Northacker?] is working on techniques to improve grounding using copper tape.
DC3 & DC4: plan to have support stand drawing ready for quote on Friday, 12-20-02.
DC5 & DC6 (Iowa Chambers)
Terry to review mass flow gas system that Nick has delivered to lab 6.
Making progress on simulation, have data ready to analyze so will know what to expect from designs. Plan to order major materials.
LED readout fixed. With electronics, saw a pulse from PMT. Baring any unforeseen need, the tank is closed up and will not be opened.
Lead workers requirements still in process. A technique has been developed for flattening lead sheets. Also working on A/D boards to see if they work.
Will soon need an engineer to review the support stand; also need to complete the assembly drawing when Michigan receives SSAAP money.
Alignment
The next call will be Tuesday, 7 January 2003, at 1:00 PM CDT in WH-2NE, Snake Pit.
