Leon Beverly's meeting summaries in italics.
BEAM - Beamline
Raja reports with the current beam line design, there is too much background. Carol Johnstone produced a design, by moving the primary target US, that provides maximum dispersion and minimum chromaticity.
UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors
BCKOV
Mirror resurfacing: mirrors are at vendor; process takes 4-5 weeeks from about 2/14.
Photo tubes: Win has not heard from Chicago regarding the tubes. Order new ones?
Remote control: parts have been machined; assembly on CKOV is next.
Pipe sections: carbon steel pipe will be used. There was discussion on a cleaning method for the inside of the pipes and the need for a dark coating, but no decision was made.
Beam Chambers
Alan Hahn is testing the 3 chambers at lab 3.
TGTW - Target Wheel
By using some existing equipment, $70K is estimated for material, effort not included.
CTGT - Cryogenic Targets
NTGT - NuMI (MINOS) Target
The floor in the anti-dust room has been painted; Installation of stand and rails is complete. The rollers will be attached to the cart this week.
ZipTrack
JGG - Jolly Green Giant
Ready to operate.
Rosie
Need copper bus jumpers made, which will potentially bypass coil with water leak; a hose without a metal braid that is compatible with the existing hose fittings in not available, therefore we will go with a fitting that has the standard hose barb with hose clamp; Holger is evaluating a few mysterious ziptracks. He is also calibrating the hallprobes.
Ready for installing mirrors.
DC1-4 (E690 Chambers)
DC1 will be put on test stand next.
DC2 not yet opened for cleaning.
DC3 now on test stand.
Test stand is operational, but the discriminator crate trips off periodically. The reason is under investigation.
Pierrick will determine cable lengths needed this week.
Vendor is fabricating DC3 & DC4 support stands. Delivery expected on St. Patrick's Day.
DC5 & DC6 (Iowa Chambers)
Vendor is fabricating support stands. Delivery expected on St. Patrick's Day
The outer wings will be 10 cm x 10 cm material. The approximate weight of outer wings will be 1500 pounds and the center section will be 500 pounds. A preliminary design of the support system will be posted for discussion.
Gas system parameters will be fed to APACS for monitoring.
The plane mounting technique, steel attachment bar, hole layout, etc. have been decided upon. Hyangkyu will contact Fermilab engineering committee member to review design. Michigan is now fabricating all parts. Flattening of lead sheets is in process.
Virginia rethinking electronics to use standard modules, move away from legacy custom modules.
The APACS system will be used to control and monitor all gas system, monitor temperature needs and possibly rack protection needs.
How will LeCroy HV supplies be controlled?
Alignment
Virgil is finishing adjustments of laser tracker data. The data establishes network points through out MC6 & MC7 that can be used to align any piece of equipment to <1/2 mm.
The next call will be Tuesday, 25 February 2003, at 1:00 PM CDT in WH-2NE, Snake Pit.
