Leon Beverly's meeting summaries in italics.
Raja noted at the end of the meeting that the collaboration would be making a presentation to the PAC on March 27. The collaboration will need to present a timeline for installation of every system and he asked everyone to start sending him his or her information. This will be important to encourage Fermilab to increase its efforts on the beamline too.
BEAM - Beamline
Raja reports that they have gone through 4 beam designs and were going to hold a meeting later in the week to pick the final one.
UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors
BCKOV
For the beam cerenkov counters the design of the gas system is finalized. Win reported that there have been no additional phototubes forthcoming so he was going to start the order process to order them.
TGTW - Target Wheel
Raja noted that the motion device for solid targets is ready. A discussion took place about the beam. Apparently some of the collaboration said that the beam was always discussed as 2-2.5 cm diameter and parallel. Raja said that the latest beam design is parallel and a 5 cm diameter contains 90% of the beam. Peter thought this might be a problem.
CTGT - Cryogenic Targets
NTGT - NuMI (MINOS) Target
Holger Meyer:
The TPC cart has been installed on the rails. I found this morning that the cart can move in the x-direction by about 2 mm on each roller. While the fine adjustment for the TPC position will be on top of the stand and we thus do not care where exactly the cart moves to inside the TPC, we still want to reproduce the position every time, if I am not mistaken (Peter, Raja?). Currently the rollers on the right (-x) side are not constrained at all and the rollers on the left (+x) side are constrained on both sides of the rail, but the rollers are 2 mm wider than the rail.
The cart also knocked the bottom Hall probe out of its position. The clearance is only ca. 18 mm to the magnet face, not ca. 25 mm as per Garry Smith's drawing. I will talk to Walt about mounting the probe again. We probably have to give up adjustment on the probe, which may be ok. Previously the initial adjustment during mounting was found to be precise enough when the magnet was turned on and adjustment checked based on the Hall probe readout.
Holger noted that the TPC cart cannot be reproducibly repositioned after a move. He talked to Ingrid and a plan will be devised to make sure the cart position is repeatable.
Peter is coming to Fermilab next week and wanted the air system turned on to the clean room for working on the TPC.
ZipTrack
JGG - Jolly Green Giant
Rosie
For the TOF system a measurement of the fields is needed at 160 cm up from the center of the magnet and 10-20 cm upstream from the mirror plate. That is the location of the phototubes. The best would be to measure the field in all three directions.
DC1-4 (E690 Chambers)
Dave Northacker reported that he has 2 out of 3 of the preamp board supports made. He needs to talk to Ingrid about the actual supports designed because there may be a potential interference with the board supports and the chamber supports. He will work it out with Ingrid.
DC5 & DC6 (Iowa Chambers)
There are still no comments on the mounting system that was proposed. The phototube order should be placed. The scintillator order bid for the wings closes on March 10.There was a discussion of the size required for the T Zero counter. It was decided that they would start prototyping with a 5 cm diameter detector.
There were measurements taken of the position of the RICH. It needs to be shimmed to put in on the beam height.
Russ Rucinski checked the mechanical work on the EMCAL and recommended that it is OK. They will probably be in full production of he final planes on Tuesday or Wednesday.
For the HCAL the drawings of the electronics are done. They are working on the new light box design. It will be built in Lab 6 when the design is complete.
Alignment
The next call will be Tuesday, 11 March 2003, at 1:00 PM CDT in WH-2NE, Snake Pit.
