Progress Updates and Issues

Leon Beverly's meeting summaries in italics.

Upstream Beamline

BEAM - Beamline

UBL - Upstream Beamline Detectors

BCKOV

Targets

TGTW - Target Wheel

CTGT - Cryogenic Targets

NTGT - NuMI (MINOS) Target

TPC - Time Projection Chamber

David Miller:

Holger and I will measure the TPC's O-ring diameter this afternoon and measure the total length needed to re-gasket. We can then order the o-ring cord stock from McMaster-Carr.

Magnets

ZipTrack

JGG - Jolly Green Giant

Rosie

CKOV - Cerenkov

Doug Wright:

I finally connected with Terry Tope. We went over my calculations and desired features for the ckov gas system. He is reviewing the info that I put on our web page and will come up with a concrete design (he is familiar with the low-pressure hardware that we need).

DC - Drift Chambers

DC1-4 (E690 Chambers)

David Miller:

Here is a one-sided account of the chamber status. Pierrick will fill you in on the electronics side.

Chamber #4:

DC4 was moved to MC7 last Tuesday mainly by Mike Macsione and Tommy Olszanowski. Karen Kephart and Pat Richards helped out loading.

The chamber was installed, intact with no broken wires.

A final check of the readout wires showed no shorts to ground and 1 short between 2 sensor anode wires. The shorted anode wires do not effect the operation of the chamber (e.g. field strength). But, the signal from the two wires will be mixed.

The cantilevered foot supports fastened to the downstream face of Rosie were 1/2" East of the chamber's feet. The cantilevers had welded seating rings which didn't allow for fit. Otto Alvarez milled the rings off, perfect fit.

The chamber still needs to be filled with preamps and cables. I'll contact the e907 group for assistance as soon as I begin. Pierrick is working on getting cables & labels.

Chamber #3:

DC3 has yet to be opened & re-gasketed, et cetera. The minimal work necessary, without extensive repair necessary, is 80-100 hours. Extra repairs could add 60-80 hours. What priority do I give this repair compared to the DC4 installation?

Chamber #1: DC1 will be next on the integrated test stand.

Chamber #2: DC2 needs preamp supports and cable trays.
