Date: Wednesday, June 06, 2001 11:09 AM Hello, Hybrid preamp chips status for June 6, 2001: 1) US made (2.5 mkA) - 552 good (16 full cards + 40) 2) RUS made (2.5 mkA) - 664 good (22 full cards - 40) 3) RUS made (5 mkA) - 252 good (8 full cards - 4) __________________________________________________________ TOTAL 1468 GOOD ( 46 cards ) NEEDED 2848 ( 89 cards ) We have hybrid chips for about 1/2 of the detector now only. Out of 556 US made chips we found only 4 to be dead. As for russian made chips the death toll is about 50 percent (about 900 dead chips found out of ~1800). It looks like that remaining russian made chips are totally unreliable. To make detector working it is needed to make ~2500 new chips ( 700 with 5 mkA threshold + 1800 with 2.5 mkA threshold). In total we have now 90 cards (46 with chips + 44 empty). If I recall correctly initially it were 96 cards, so 6 cards are missing, but this amount is still OK, only 89 are needed. PCOS III DAQ electronics is working fine with existing RICH hybrid preamps, so no problem with that. We also have checked all N277 boards. Out of 30 boards only 2 have one dead channel each. All others are fine. Best wishes, Sasha.
